Although our work experience places are now full, we are also able to offer other opportunities to get involved in the museum through our youth group – Cur8.
Cur8 is for 12-24 year olds and they meet on the second Saturday of the month from 10.30am-12.30pm.
This programme offers the opportunity to find out more about the museum, visit other museums, contribute to a gallery re-display, and more. It is a great chance to build knowledge and experience. A favourite part for the current members is being able to see behind the scenes in our stores.
Cur8 is a good way to gain knowledge and experience in a museum on a regular basis. If you are interested in joining or would like to come in to chat with us about it, please contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Placements for academic year 2019-20 are available between 29.6.20 – 10.7.20.
WB; 29.6.20-3.7.20 fully allocated
WB; 6.7.20-10.7.20 fully allocated
We are able to offer one week of work experience to students who fit our criteria. We can accommodate 2 students per week, studying GCSE or ‘A’ level, usually from different schools.
Our work experience placement is shared between the departments within the museum, but overseen by the Learning and Events Officer. Students will spend time with some or all of the Learning, Interpretation, Collections and Front of House teams. Within each department you will have the opportunity to do a little of what we do on a day to day basis.
Times for placements are 10am – 3.30pm Monday – Friday of the week allocated. Placements for academic year 2019-20 are available between 29.6.20 – 10.7.20. Unfortunately we have had to reduce the dates we can offer this year.
To help us decide whether we are able to offer you a placement, please supply the following information:
1. Your school, year group and dates for work experience (we are able to offer one week per student)
2. Your CV (if available) or the subjects you’re studying and at what level, e.g. GCSE/A level
3. A little about yourself, your interests and why you’d like to do your work experience at the museum
Once we have received this we can then review the information and decide if a placement here is suitable. We usually start to review placements in January and send out offer emails towards the end of the month. If you need a response sooner because your school needs confirmation, please include this in the above information. Please send your application to email@example.com.
