What is CUR8?
We have spaces ….
Cur8 continues throughout 2025
Cur8, the Museum’s Youth Group (for 12-18 year olds), continues from Saturday 1 February 1015. Meetings will take place from 10am to 12 noon and run on the first Saturday of each month. Places are limited and must be booked in advance, please contact museumevents@maidstone.gov.uk to apply for a place.
Places will be confirmed and relevant permission forms sent with confirmation. Please don’t just turn up until place confirmed by our Learning Officer.
CUR8 is a youth group aimed at 12-18-year-olds based at Maidstone Museum and run by our CUR8 Coordinator with support from the on-site Learning Team. The group aims to give young people an opportunity to experience closer interactions with collections, behind the scenes activities, talks by visiting museum experts, tours of other museums, and much more.
CUR8 meets once a month with each session having a specific focus. These sessions provide a great opportunity to develop knowledge and experience, while many members often claim the chance to explore behind the scenes in our storerooms represents the most enjoyable part of their membership.
In addition to regular monthly sessions, CUR8 is involved in several major projects happening within the museum, contributing to essential work and research to further the experience delivered by Maidstone Museum, meaning there are sometimes extra or extended sessions.
Recent projects featuring involvement by CUR8 include contributions to the Ancient Lives Gallery and Lives in our Landscape Gallery.
