Hidemaro was a pupil of Utamaro and worked with him on a picture book (ehon) in 1804. It illustrated the ceremonies connected with the green houses (seiro) of the pleasure districts. As a pupil of Utamaro he would have imitated his style, until he produced work that was indistinguishable from his master.
