The two Kamuro are playing a game of sugeroku which is similar to backgammon. There were 100 prints in this series produced between 1775 and 1781. Each image shows a courtesan and Kamuro in exquisite kimono designs. The Kamuro wear matching ‘furisode’ kimono, recognisable from their long sleeves which reach to the ground.
