Title: Clovelly, 1920
Goodwin travelled to Clovelly for a fortnight’s painting break in late August 1919. He writes in his diary how he painted alongside: “Crazy Kate’s Cottage…looking straight into the harbour” and how he endeavoured to capture “…the infinite Clovelly, a foreground with all its quaint winding steps, houses, flowers, cobbled stones and walls, stretching endlessly out beyond, the wonder of the full-toned sea.”
