Secondary school visits (KS3–5)

This session introduces students to the different roles within a museum and how each team works with objects in the collection. It also includes a handling activity in which students use observation and deduction to identify mystery objects.

Format and duration

• 60-minute workshop
• Optional 30-minute extension
• Available at the museum or in school.

Extended option

The extended version gives students the opportunity to learn more about exhibitions, including how objects are displayed and how captions are written for visitors.

This 90-minute workshop explores Roman Britain as a multicultural society. Students investigate how people moved, settled and adopted new identities, using evidence from bones, teeth, grave goods and handled artefacts to examine what we can learn from the past.
