Maidstone Museum is located in the centre of town, within easy walking distance of Maidstone’s main shopping areas, train stations and car parks.

Exit the M20 at Junction 6 and follow signs towards Maidstone town centre and Maidstone East train station. Continue by following the brown heritage signs to Maidstone Museum.
Pay and display parking is available at the Fremlin Walk multi-storey car park, located opposite the museum.
A limited number of disabled parking spaces are available on Station Road along the walled edge of Brenchley Gardens.
The nearest train station to Maidstone Museum is Maidstone East, approximately a two-minute walk through Brenchley Gardens.
If travelling via the Medway Valley Line, alight at Maidstone Barracks. From there, it is around a five-minute walk over the bridge, following the Maidstone East rail tracks to Maidstone East station.
Maidstone Museum is around a ten-minute walk from the Chequers Bus Station.
Alternatively, from Chequers Bus Station, walk to King Street (Stop G) and take the 503 or 85 towards Maidstone Town Centre. Alight at the Royal Star Arcade or Brenchley Gardens stops, followed by a short walk to the museum.
We aim to make the museum accessible to as many visitors as possible, with step-free access to most areas, lift access between floors and accessible toilets.

The Maidstone Carriage Museum is located in a different part of Maidstone town centre and is not on the same site as Maidstone Museum. If you are planning to visit both locations, please allow time to travel between them.
To walk from Maidstone Museum to the Maidstone Carriage Museum:
Turn left as you exit the front courtyard and walk towards Week Street. Turn right onto Week Street and follow it through town and down Gabriel’s Hill. At the bottom, cross over and continue past the police station, then turn left at the junction. The Carriage Museum is on your left.
To return, follow the same route in reverse.
From Maidstone Museum, continue onto Waterside and turn left onto the A229, following signs for Hastings/Town Centre. The Palace Avenue car park is on your right.
Exit the car park via the far right corner. The Carriage Museum is nearby. Please note that parking in this area is limited.
To return to Maidstone Museum, follow the one-way system via Bishops Way and the A229, then follow brown heritage signs to Fremlin Walk car park.
