We are trialing something new!
We are creating some SEND friendly craft activities for families with children with SEND and their siblings. These will run on the 5 Fridays of the school summer holidays. The activities will be linked to our natural history/animal collection and will be in a more relaxed environment with guided and open ended craft opportunities. Children will have the opportunity to get closer to specimens of creatures related to the theme of the day. These sessions will have fewer spaces than our usual sessions and aim to be quieter with more open ended activities. There is a small charge for each child to cover costs but adults are free.
(we are trialing selling tickets through the Hazlitt Theatre’s booking system but all craft activities are being held at the museum as usual)
2 sessions per day –
Session 1: 10.30am – 11.30am
Session 2: 1.30pm – 2.30pm
Suitable for families with SEND children including siblings.
£3.50 per child per session. Adults are free. An adult must stay with child/ren.
Location; The SEND sessions will be in our studio (classroom) which is on the ground floor round the corner from the main reception. For these sessions we will be removing some of the table to allow for more space for wheelchairs etc. There are only 10 child spaces for each session to give more space and a calmer atmosphere for those involved.
SEND family crafts are accessible for children and young people aged 4+. Each session is creature themed with a choice of open ended activity or following a set of instructions with a final outcome. A mixture of materials is available for each session.
