Due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to change the date for this event. It will now be held on Friday 14 March 2025. If you have booked tickets our ticket sales provider (Hazlitt Theatre) will contact you to arrange a transfer of tickets to this new date or a refund.
After a highly successful and well-received opening featuring Hugh Dennis and a palaeolithic hand axe, join Dr Simon Elliott FSA and Richard Taylor FSA in a discussion about the fabulous Roman collection in Maidstone Museum’s Lives in Our Landscape gallery on Friday 14 March 2025. (please note date change)
Hear the story of Roman Kent and its wider importance in Roman Britain through the spectacular artefacts of the show. Simon and Richard will guide you through highlights, including the beautiful Plaxtol Minerva statue, a very high-quality child’s lead coffin complete with shroud remains, the Pudding Pan Rock Samian ware horde, sparkling ingots of Roman gold and silver, and magnificent tile made and stamped by the Classis Britannica regional fleet. Afterwards, we will retire to the KAS library for refreshments and a Q&A with Simon and Richard, finishing at 9pm.
