Heritage Open Day: Tour of the Local History Gallery

Sat 19th Sep 2026 - 10:00 - 15:00

Tour

A whistle stop tour covering 400 years of Maidstone’s history!

Join Samantha Harris, Collections Manager at Maidstone Museums, for a guided tour of the reopened Oldham Gallery: Exploring Maidstone’s Past and Present.

As Samantha leads you through the refreshed displays, she will highlight newly incorporated stories and expand on familiar ones, revealing how the gallery has been re‑imagined. Discover fascinating new themes including witchcraft, everyday life, gin distilling, and the town’s sporting and entertainment heritage, all woven together to present a richer, more inclusive view of Maidstone’s history.

This tour offers a unique insight into how collections evolve, and how fresh perspectives can bring the past vividly to life.
