Soul Stitch Society Community Interest Company (CIC) opens its inaugural Flower Power stitch installation in the courtyard of Maidstone Museum on 2nd May. This celebrates the wonderful crochet and embroidery work of a creative group of community stitchers.
Soul Stitch Society CIC runs regular stitch workshops which aim to bring stitchers together to skill share and try new techniques in a supportive environment which fosters a sense of community and wellbeing, and which in turn, enhances creative expression.
The exhibition showcases contributions from three stitch groups in the Maidstone area. Members have collaboratively worked together to assemble an array of floral pieces made out of fabric and yarn. These will form a textile art installation in the museum courtyard on 2nd May. Part of the installation will remain on view at the museum from 2nd until 13th May and part of the work produced will be available for sale after the 2nd May. Proceeds will help to fund future community workshops and events run by Soul Stitch Society CIC.
