Art educators face the dual challenge of maintaining high standards of teaching practice with that of studio efforts – usually, the educational priorities dominate. However, this exhibition aims to strike a balance, if not of energies than of philosophy: that the art teacher becomes a better educator when given time to be in the studio, and conversely, that studio creativity is enriched through the experience of the classroom.
The artists in this exhibition are current members of staff of Maidstone Grammar School Art Department, and represent collectively a century of professional practice. We are grateful for the privilege of passing our skills and experiences along to our students, and for the tremendous energy and enthusiasm of the next generation of young artists, who always keep us on our toes.
