Book your schools workshop
All group visits must be booked in advance. This includes workshop bookings and self led visits. Please provide us with at least two weeks’ notice of your visit and complete and submit using the downloadable booking forms at the bottom of this page and return to museumeducation@maidstone.gov.uk. We confirm all bookings in writing via email. Do check your booking confirmation form to ensure details are correct before signing and returning it to us by the date requested. This secures your booking. Please contact us if you do not receive written confirmation within two weeks of making your booking or if you have any queries. Invoices are emailed to the school at the end of the month of visit.

Museum visits
We can currently accommodate up to two classes per day in the museum doing a maximum of two workshops each. It is possible that there is more than one school visiting at any time. Workshop delivery is subject to staff availability.
Outreach visits
Outreach visits can deliver up to four workshops per day. This can be on more than one theme.
Adult to student ratio
It is advised that the following ratio of adults to students is adhered to:
- 1:5 for children aged seven years and under
- 1:6 for children aged eight years and above
- 1:10 for secondary school students
- 1:15 for ages 16 and above
We recommend these ratios to ensure all children are safe and have full access to the activities on offer. Some workshops require children to be in smaller groups to complete tasks, and having an adult with each ensures maximum participation opportunities for all children. Bring as many adult helpers as possible and share your preparation with them so they can help your pupils better. If you have not visited the museum before we recommend a pre visit so you are aware of the layout and the access to each gallery. This can be done Wed- Sat in term time between 10am -4pm or in holidays Mon – Sat, 10am -4pm. Please note last entry is 3.30pm.
