This exhibition introduces audiences to Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints from the Edo and Meiji periods, drawn from Maidstone Museums’ internationally significant Japanese collections.
Featuring works by leading artists including Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Hiroshige, and Kitagawa Utamaro, the exhibition explores one of the most influential visual traditions in Japanese art. Subjects include beautiful women, dramatic landscapes, actors, and warriors, alongside widely recognised images such as The Great Wave and Red Fuji.
The exhibition offers a visually strong and culturally authoritative overview suitable for a wide range of venues.
