Maidstone Museums have been shortlisted for a Royal Society for Public Health award for its role in ‘Museums on Prescription’, a project with University College London and Canterbury Christ Church University.
A small group of museums in the South East, including Maidstone, trialled engagement with groups of socially-isolated older people, demonstrating the health and wellbeing benefits of museums.
A legacy project is continuing in the form of ‘Cafe Culture’ – an informal drop-in session for over 65s. It’s held on the last Friday of the month in the museum cafe, and is kindly sponsored by Golding Homes.
