A collaborative exhibition of beautiful historic doll’s houses from the museum’s own collections, combined with contemporary artists’ and makers’ work, exploring the wider concept and meaning of a small or miniature house.
Never before shown together, the museum’s collection of 8 doll’s houses represents everything from scratch built to commercially produced, dating from the early 19th to late 20th century. There are recognisable ‘classics’ such as Barbie dolls and mock Tudor style houses, alongside slot-together bungalows and handmade box rooms, as well as a mystery ‘Regency House’!
Contributions from contemporary artists and makers include stunning photographs, videos, artworks and models, all inspired by the concept of a ‘small house’.
