The Learning Team at Maidstone Museum has developed several loan boxes for educational organisations with premises to borrow. At present, we provide a small selection of themes, with more being created over the coming months.
Each loan box contains around ten objects – a mixture of artefacts and replicas – as well as a teacher pack that contains photocopy resources for classroom use, teacher notes, curriculum links (where possible), and photographic labels of each item. Three cased animals can be borrowed for Natural History loans. Full details of what is in each box is in the Loans Catalogue.
Loan boxes are available for periods of five weeks and should be booked as far in advance as possible. Bookings can be made to cover several topics over the academic year and can be used by several classes within the same location. The cost for loan boxes is currently £50 for each five-week period. Set dates are listed in the loans catalogue document. Bookings are currently being taken for January-July 2017.
If you have suggestions for future loan boxes, or for more information, please feel free to email us or submit an enquiry below. To book, please complete the loan request form in the loans catalogue document and email email@example.com, or return via post:
